How to Commission Me!
|
So you're considering commissioning me? Wise choice! Make sure you read and understand everything on this page before you contact me. It just saves me a lot of typing. :) I am almost always open for commissions. However, there are rare times when life throws so much at me (or I already have too much of a workload that any more would just stress me out). In those cases, there would be big bold text on the main page of my website that says commissions are closed. Now... this is how I do my commissions. They are pretty much set in stone so if you have a problem with it, don't bother contacting me. I ask for full payment up front before I begin even begin working. I used to not do this, but I have been burned one too many times by people who cancel their order after I had put a lot of hard work into a picture. For commissions I do not offer refunds because of the amount of time and energy that goes into a picture. You don't have to worry about me "gyping" you by not giving you your picture because I guarantee that I always deliver what I promise. If you want hard proof of that, you can look at both my eBay and Furbid user ratings as both of those are of 100% satisfaction. For payment itself, I really prefer paypal because it's much more safe and reliable then the postal Service. If you do not have a paypal account, I do accept personal check and money order. If you have absolutely no other option, I do accept cash... but keep in mind that it is NOT safe because if it gets lost in the mail it is impossible to track and I can't be held responsible for greedy mailmen. After payment is received I will begin working on your picture within a day. Within a few days I will have a rough sketch for you to approve before I finalize your picture. That way you will be sure you are getting what you want. I can make any revisions you want during that time. I will take the sketch back for revisions THREE times or completely redo the line art ONCE. After that I will start charging for revisions because lots of revisions take time out from other commissions that I could be working on. After I get the go ahead from you I will finalize the sketch and color your picture. After that point, I can't make any revisions to the line art but I can do minor color changes. My artwork is my personal business and I treat it as such. I take pride in conducting my business with professionalism and I do expect a certain degree of professionalism from my customers as well. I.E. No comments that are rude and uncalled for and no acting like a spoiled child. Customers who are snarky, rude, mean, or obnoxious may be subject to having their commission cancelled and the portion of their payment for the art that I HAVE NOT worked on returned to them. Things have (fortunately) not have to come to that point, but be aware that you're paying for my time drawing. I order my prints from an online printing company so your pictures will be sent to you within 3-5 business days (unless your picture does not require prints... then your picture(s) will be sent the next day). Shipping is free on small gift items, such as conbadges, since I can fit them into a plain envelope. Your picture will be yours and yours alone. I will not sell prints of your commission to anybody but you. Also, you will be the only person to see the picture without watermarks. You are allowed to use your commission on your personal website as long at the watermarks aren't removed and a link to my website is placed nearby. I reserve the right to post your commission on my websites as well as possibly including it in art shows and my college/professional portfolio. If your still serious about commissioning me (or have any questions), please contact me and we can work something out.
Commission Copyrights! This is important to know! Even though all the characters and ideas in your commission are © to you the image that I create is © to me. Big difference! I do understand that your characters are your babies, since I feel the same way about my own characters so out of respect for you I will not sell prints of your commission to anybody but you. HOWEVER, I reserve the right to use the image in any way that I see fit. Including, but not limited to:
* My portfolios… either college or professional. * Art shows and exhibitions. I have featured commissioned work in these before. * Any “How To Draw” books I create in the future (highly unlikely that I'd include it, but it could happen). * If I ever create an archival CD of all my work since 1997 it WILL be on there!
Once again... You have permission to post the watermarked copy of your commission on your websites as long as you DO NOT claim it as your own, post a link to my website nearby and do not post it on any websites that I would not agree with (yiff sites, anti fur sites, etc). Those watermarks are there to help protect your characters as well as my art from being stolen so they benefit both of us.
